They didn't actually get their instruments stolen, but nonetheless it's pretty impressive. I'd never heard of them until I saw this video. But the other day, I heard this song on the Top 20 station sandwiched in between Nelly and Pink! It's amazing how much the music industry has changed with the internet, especially since MTV doesn't even really play music videos anymore...they're too busy with stellar programming like Jersey Shore and My Super Sweet Sixteen. You can just throw something up on YouTube and millions of people can see it!
Other notable instances of internet blow-ups:
- Justin Bieber (discovered in 2008 from YouTube)
- Every music video ever made by OK Go (seriously, every single one of those has MILLIONS of views)
- A Filipino guy (Arnel Pineda) was asked to try out to be the lead singer of Journey after they saw him on YouTube
